The 3M Canada Recertification Education Award

The 3M Canada Education Award recognizes the ongoing commitment of the Reprocessing Department Technician to continuing education. 3M believes education is a significant factor in ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care and we are dedicated to supporting the efforts of these individuals to maintain and expand their knowledge throughout their careers. The award is $600.00 to fund the C.S.A.O. recertification course for three C.S.A.O. members who successfully passed their C.S.A.O. recertification exam in the education year 2008-2009.


Criteria:

The recipient must be a graduate of the C.S.A.O. Techniques Classroom Course prior to recertification.
The recipient must have successfully passed the C.S.A.O. recertification exam during the education year of the award.
The receipient must be a current member of the C.S.A.O. and be employed in a Medical Device Reprocessing Department as a Technician. They must have maintained their C.S.A.O. membership for five consecutive years prior to writing the recertification exam.
The recipient's eligibility for the award is contingent upon registration for the C.S.A.O. annual conference and attendance of the conference. The conference fee will be paid by the C.S.A.O.
Should the recipient be unable to attend the conference, the award will pass to another participant who meets the criteria. No exceptions are to be made.
Acceptance and registration for the conference must be received by the C.S.A.O. executive within one month of notification of the award by the Director of Education.
The C.S.A.O. Director of Education will bring forth only those names that have met the above criteria at the June executive meeting. Three names will be drawn and will be contacted in the order drawn by the Director of Education. The winner is responsible for booking their room and providing their own transportation to the conference. The Director of Education will send them a registration form to return within the month to the Director of Education. If this does not occur then the person will be contacted and the next person drawn will then be contacted.


The Award:

A plaque and a cheque for $600.00 will be presented by 3M to the three successful recipients at the Annual Awards Banquet in Septermber. The C.S.A.O. will pay the conference registration fee for the three sucessful recipients.


The Johnson & Johnson Award of Excellence In Sterile Processing

This award is to recognize front line staff working in Sterile Processing. You must be a Sterile Processing Technicians/Aides to apply.

Criteria:

A current member of the C.S.A.O.
Must attend C.S.A.O. Conference
Must be nominated by Manager, Supervisor or Peer (with Manager's approval)
Has demonstrated excellence through involvement with one or more of the following: Education and training in Sterile Processing, a special project resulting in improvement to job process or design, teaching/motivating or mentoring others, development and/or implementation of an innovative idea, promotion of quality improvement.


Assessment:

The categories used in assessing the nominations for the Johnson & Johnson Award of Excellence are as follows:

Process Change - has the individual contributed to changes in process in the department or in other areas of the hospital.

Teaching Mentoring - does the individual contribute to the teaching process in the department or hospital.

Innovation - has the individual taken the initiative to implement change through a process that has not been attempted before or challenges the status quo.

Quality Improvement - has the individual improved the quality of the services provided by SPD by his or her actions.

The Award:

One thousand ($1,000) dollars to be used for continuing education, contributing to career development in Sterile Processing. This could include course/seminar registration, materials, expenses, etc.

The C.S.A.O. will pay the registration fee for the conference.


GETINGE CANADA ISOBEL CAMPBELL AWARD

The Getinge Canada Isobel Campbell Award is the most prestigious honour bestowed by the Central Service Association of Ontario. It is given to the person who is judged to have made a significant contribution to the Central Service Profession.

Attends the C.S.A.O. Conference.


The Award:

The award consists of a gift and cheque for $1,000.00 from Getinge Canada for educational purposes.

The C.S.A.O. will pay the registration fee.

Criteria:

Selection is based on the following:

The recipient must be a graduate of the C.S.A.O. Techniques Classroom Course held between June 1st to May 30 of the preceding months before the conference.

The recipient must have received 90% on the C.S.A.O. Techniques written exam.

The recipient must be a current member of the C.S.A.O. and be employed in a C. S. D./S. P. D. setting.

The recipient's eligibility for the award is contingent upon registration for the C.S.A.O. annual seminar.

Should the recipient be unable to attend the seminar, the award will pass to another participant who meets the criteria. No exceptions are to be made.

Acceptance and registration for the seminar must be received by the C.S.A.O. executive within one month of notification of the award by the Director of Education.

The C.S.A.O. Director of Education will bring forth only those names that have 90% and are current C.S.A.O. members at the June executive meeting. Three names will be drawn & will be contacted in order drawn by the Director of Education. The first person that accepts to attend the conference nullifies any further names. The winner is responsible for booking their room and providing their own transportation to the conference. They must attend the Monday night Awards Banquet. The Director of Education will send them a registration form to return within the month to the Director of Education. If this does not occur then the person will be contacted & the next person will then be contacted.

A plaque and a cheque for $1,000.00 will be presented to the successful recipient at the annual seminar awards banquet in September.


The Award:

The award is $1,000.00, which allows the successful recipient to attend the annual C.S.A.O. seminar.

The winner must attend the conference. C.S.A.O. will cover the registration fee to the conference (includes lunch Mon. & Tues. and a dinner ticket for Monday's award banquet).


Heather Mode Memorial A-CART Award

This award is given each year to the President of the Central Service Association of Ontario. Dick Flynn, President of A-cart Equipment, wanted to encourage C.S.A.O. members to get involved in executive positions and take on the role of President. He felt that this bursary of $1,000.00 would be an incentive to take on the President's duties knowing there would be this opportunity. This award of $1,000.00 can be used by the President at their discretion.

HONORARY LIFETIME MEMBERS:

Honorary Lifetime membership may be bestowed upon an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the Association as a whole over a period of time.

The Past Presidents of the Association will be bestowed an Honorary Lifetime Membership by the Association at the completion of their term of office. Honorary Lifetime Members status shall be "Associate Member" with no fees required & no voting privileges,
